Having gripped the world with their music, the British iconic band Beatles was making waves with their peppy music and creative songwriting in the 60s. Same year, this sensational band looked towards India to take a break, get some perspective and meditate. The trip to India and its rich culture inspired the Beatles to come up with some popular songs that still remain part of rock and roll history.
The Beatles spent over 3 months in the Yoga Capital of the world, Rishikesh, to practice Transcendental Meditation. The Beatles found home in Chaurasi Kutia Ashram, or Beatles Ashram, established by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1961. This Ashram gave them a tranquil space to practice Transcendental Meditation and ideate many of their songs.
Songs such as “Blackbird”, “Dear Prudence”, “Child of Nature”, Teddy Boy” amongst several others were a by-product of inspiration from India.
